The anual Burston Strike School Rally is held in commemoration of teachers sacked from the village school in 1914, who then went on to teach children in the alternative Burston Strike School until 1939 – the longest strike in history.
For more than 30 years, Peter has documented the rally celebrating socialist ideals, and is often involved in its convening. Benn, Livingston, Kinnock, Scargill, Skinner, Prescott, Corbyn and Abbott have kept the red flag flying there, to the tune of a brass band led by Bob Crow or the beat of a poem read by Dr John Cooper Clarke.
